Garba Eka Team Ready for Energy-Efficient Car Contest
The Energy Efficient Car Contest (KMHE) is a highly anticipated event for mechanical engineering students from various universities across Indonesia. Among the participants vying to showcase their best innovation and skills, the Garba Eka Team from Surabaya State University (Unesa) has demonstrated its consistent competitiveness. Embracing the spirit of Unesa's mechanical engineering education tagline, "Strong in Education, Competitive in Mechanical Engineering," the team is diligently preparing for this year's event.
Rachmad Syarifudin Hidayatullah, S.Pd., M.Pd., Team Garba Eka's supervisor, revealed the various strategies and innovations being pursued. Rachmad explained, "We are focused on developing an engine that is not only strong and reliable, but also highly energy efficient. This aligns with the main challenge of the KMHE, which is to create a vehicle capable of traveling the longest distance with minimal fuel consumption."
A key component of this preparation involves intensive research and repeated testing to refine the engine's design and performance. Hildad, a team member, explained, "We conducted numerous simulations and tests to ensure every component functioned optimally. We carefully considered every detail, from the vehicle's aerodynamics to the combustion system." This approach not only improved engine efficiency but also strengthened the overall design of the vehicle they created.

Fahmi, another team member, added, "We also utilized the latest technology in materials to reduce the vehicle's weight without sacrificing its strength. This resulted in improved energy efficiency." This innovation in material use demonstrates how the Garba Eka Team remains at the forefront of applying cutting-edge technology to achieve their goals.
The team's enthusiasm and dedication are inextricably linked to the full support provided by Unesa and the Faculty of Engineering. Rachmad emphasized, "We always encourage students to continue innovating and learning through research. In this context, KMHE is not just a competition, but also an opportunity for them to apply their acquired knowledge in a real-world context. This aligns perfectly with our educational principles: strong in education and competitive in mechanical engineering."
With thorough preparation and a strong spirit of innovation, the Garba Eka Team is ready to face the challenges of the KMHE. They not only bring honor to Unesa but also demonstrate how mechanical engineering education can play a significant role in creating solutions to future energy challenges. They hope this event will inspire more students to participate in efforts to create more efficient and environmentally friendly technologies.
